~Venita Drive Railroad Overpass/Hwy 50 & Venita Drive Intersection Improvements
In the fall (2013), this project may be underway. Project sequencing has of yet not been determined as a contractor has not been selected; so, a lot of details are yet to come. However, it is time for those who traffic this area to start thinking about alternative routes as this project could take more than a year to complete.
In this project, which is actually two projects, a railroad overpass over the CSX Railroad tracks will be constructed calling for a large amount of earthwork and a bridge span to be constructed. Along with this additional turn lanes will be added to Venita at its intersection with Hwy 50. Closure of the Venita leg of the intersection and Venita’s intersection with the Frontage Road of I-64 will occur during this effort. In short, it will be a mess for those who normally pass through this area. Special considerations for the businesses that will be affected in the area are being planned as well. Standby for news!”
